Singing 'Wash in Jordan'

When I was about ten, along with my two sisters and two friends, we ventured from the Avenues of Rhosddu to BelleVue Park. As we played on the swings two ladies asked us to go along to the room, above what I think was the Co-op, to sing songs with the offer of prizes if we attended all week. We went along enjoyed singing ‘Wash in Jordan’, ‘Clean Hands and Dirty Hands’ and ‘Jesus loves you’. We listened to stories from the Bible and agreed to go back the next day. By this time, it was past teatime so we ran home, my mother was worried as she had no idea where we had gone. After explaining we had gone with some ladies to sing 'Wash in Jordan’ she said "never mind ‘Wash in Jordan’, into the bathroom, now and wash your hands for bed", needless to say we didn't get any prizes for good attendance. How times have changed!
