The road was developed with rather large houses for business people. Most of these houses look the same today, with their black and white frontage. The Oak Tree public house was the first building on this road and was built in 1844 as three cottages; two of these are now part of the Pub. There are many businesses on Ruabon Road selling everything from fishing tackle to motorcycles and gas fires.
